In regards to Hsien Huey's and Sabby's post on Ohana9, I would just like to say that I am sick of this supposed 'natural beauty' that most guys like.
What is this 'natural beauty' look you ask? By common definition, it's the art of looking delicately pretty without seeming to try. That's the key word 'SEEMING'. I feel naturally vindicated by this, cuz God knows I've gotten my fair share of confusing opinions about make-up.
I have received my fair share of compliments from some of the guys I've dated/have liked me that I possess this so-called 'natural beauty'. They compliment me not because I look good (well, maybe because of that), but that it seems I need to take no effort to look presentable.
HELLO! I take resentment to that! Being a woman is the most irritatingly hardworking job in the universe. I have to shave my leg hairs, shave my arm hairs (I know Sabby and Becky find this gross, but I do it, so whatever), pluck my eyebrows, do my nails, cleanse, tone and moisturize my face, buy shampoos and conditioners at exorbitant prices, give treatment to my hair, go for facials, do a million crunches a day (ok, exercising is a rare thing, but I do work out)... I would keep on typing but my fingers are tired.
And you know what's so irksome? I get practically prosecuted if I don't do at least half of these things! How many of you have laughed at girls who don't shave their armpits? My point exactly. No one laughs at guys if they don't shave their armpits, now do they?
It takes a shitload of work to look even half-baked attractive and me (and my mum's money and effort) are insulted that you men choose to dismiss all our efforts and just account it to nature. Damn, if I were truly 'natural', I'd be accused of being an ugly lunatic.
But guys nowadays, just a stitch of make-up and, WHOA! You're suddenly really fake. Don't talk to me about skin-toned coloured make-up and all that. I remember just the other day, I went out with a friend who said I was wearing 'too much make up', when I had only been wearing foundation, concealer and mascara. Oh, and maybe a little bit of blusher.
Damned if you do take care of your looks, and damned if you don't.
Guys, trust me. There's nothing more insulting to a woman than to tell her that she's wearing 'too much make up' when she's taken the efforts to dress for an occasion. I know some people OD on make-up and can leave imprints with how thick their make up is, but PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF MANKIND, DON'T SAY ANYTHING TO HER FACE. Just be nice and bite your tongue.
Coincidentally, I saw that same friend a few days later when I wasn't wearing any make-up and he said I looked 'so much better'. On the same day that I was asked by concerned friends if I was feeling alright cuz I looked pale and tired. -.-' Men, I tell you. Anything for 'natural beauty'.
Personally, I like make up. With make-up, my eye bags are not so noticeable, I have a radiant glow and look more polished. I feel more confident and I would like to think that I get positive attention from cute looking guys!
Some more examples of make-up vs. without make-up:

To be fair, Aiswarya Rai looks stunning with or without make-up.
I would like the huge sum of money that went into looking 'natural' to be acknowledged. Maybe it's just me, but I get really irritated when guys attribute my beauty to Mother Nature rather than L'Oreal.
I guess I get annoyed because it seems that I did nothing to look presentable, when in reality, it's one of the things that is always on my mind. I hate it that my efforts are gone to waste, without anyone realising it.
Another thing to guys. We get that some of you like the doe-eyed-no-make-up look, but must you chastise all the rest of us who actually PUT IN SOME EFFORT to look better for you? Are our make-up crimes so bad that you have to make fun of us for even the use of make up? >=/
Pah! It's so difficult to be a woman.
Looking natural is the most unnatural thing in this world.
